I am thinking about deleting all my old posts and starting this completely over from scratch especially since I locked everything down due to issues. I think it's time for a fresh start which includes leaving a bunch of groups, unfriending and starting over friends list, and cleaning up my interests to reflect actual active interests I have at the moment instead of general interests over all.

So, don't be to surprised if suddenly you are unfriended or see me drop out of your group. If you want to be my friend, just send me a new request (and remind me how I know you). If you think I should still be in your group, then invite me back. Sometimes it's just easier to start off with a clean slate.

From everything I have read, ruffle feet, no matter who makes them or what machine you are using, are finicky things. There is a lot of testing and messing to get them to work correctly.

This is how I THINK things work with the Distinctive Ruffler Foot.

Make sure you are feeding your ruffle fabric in correctly. It has to be between the two black plates...the flat one and the bent one with teeth. Also it has to be under the raised prong. The diagram in the instructions is pretty good.

There are four slots(*-12-6-1) and this is the spacing regulator. This is how many pleats/ruffles for every X amount of stitches with 1 being very full because it ruffles every stitch and where 12 is very loose because it's every 12 stitches. The * is for NO Pleat/Ruffle.
Further fullness of ruffles can be adjusted by your machine stitch. Shorter stitches are for fuller ruffles. I saw on a post somewhere that setting 1 you will need 4-5 X fabric length, 6 is 2 X, and 12 is 1.25 X.

Now the other thing is for pleating. You will see 0-1-2-3-4-8 on the opposite side of the orange screw. The numbers are kind of hard to see. This is for pleat depth. The 0 is for little pleat and 8 is for deep pleat.

I typically use 1 for spacing and 0 for depth. I typically use a basting stitch on my machine stitch length. A few times for very full pleats I did set the depth to 8. It gives a different look. Anyhow...the "standard" is 1 spacing and 0 depth.

My beloved sent me a message asking if I could organize a care package of feminine products for the female soldiers. It seems the PX there is a bit lacking in this department.

1) Tampons, small sizes
He wrote: Small sizes as the few that do make it here are the size of "fucking baseball bats." I've been told that plastic applicators are a good thing. I've been told Playtex Pearls is a favorite.
So apparently they only sell economy sized tampons. ::eye roll:: Of course.

2) Pads of various sizes and flows.

3) Conditioner
He said that it can even be inexpensive stuff like Suave. The PX doesn't sell just conditioner, only all-in-one type stuff.

4) Toe Nail Polish
He says, "since they can pain their toe nails they would like to do that so they can feel girly."

5) Any other feminine products that you can think would be good.

If anyone would like to donate items to the care package, just tell me. I'll be starting a box tomorrow and making a run to the store. If you want to donate, but don't live near me or just want me to do the shopping, you can paypal me a donation and I'll buy more stuff. I'll probably send the package on the 16th of this month as it takes about 10 or so days to get over there (on good days). I really appreciate anyone considering helping out. I want to make sure our unit is taken care of in whatever way they require. Anyhow, thanks!

I was making a list of all the books I've listened to on Podiobooks.com for a friend of mine and decided to post it in case anyone else was interested in what I've "read." I'm extremely addicted to Podiobooks.com, as you can see.

Before I went out, my Mom took some quick photos of me in my black and white striped corset bustle skirt (or whatever they call it where I purchased it). The blouse is from the same place. The boots I purchased from a friend who sells them. LOKI is in a few of the photos, because Lolita and kitten equals cute...right?

So, yeah. My parents...the dog people...got a kitten. My Aunt’s cat had kittens a while back and well, Mom and Dad decided to get one. Weird, yes. I tried my best to somewhat talk them out of it, but in the end, I think secretly they wanted a pet, but just wasn’t ready for another dog yet.

I have to say, it is pretty cute. He was blinded by the flash, I’m sure. He’s got some really interesting markings. He’s got these white outlines around his eyes. He’s got front mittens, then a mitten and a sock on the back. His chest is white, then the rest is the tiger pattern. He's got some long hair, but not like my friends' long haired cats. I think it's because he's a mix of one of those tiger kitties and a black long haired one. Anyhow, the other kittens were much more skittish, but this one seemed pretty docile. That blue ball in the photo…he loves it. It makes noise and he bats it around like crazy.

Mom got out voted on the name. His name is Loki. Can you guess who put that name on the list? LOL But yeah, out of all the names, even Dad liked that one. Of course, D-chan liked it to. Mom was just all worried that I might be hiding something about the name or something. I kept it very generic. Loki; Norse god; typically associated with the trickster. I kind of left out all the rest about Loki.

Since they've never had a cat before, this shall be an interesting experience.

You know you've played WAY too much Mabinogi before bed when you start having strange dreams that are partly based in real life and partly based in fantasy life. I recently had a dream about gathering wool out in a field by my grandma's house (where she used to live) so that I could take it to the pharmacist I used to see at the Walgreens in Toledo on Reynolds that had only one eye, so he could make bandages and I could get EXP and Gold so I could buy the shield I wanted and level up to 20 before Friday so I could rebirth. I was using my shears from work and thinking, "thank goodness Kate sharpened these for me." So, to explain...I play this game, Mabinogi: Fantasy Life, which is by Nexon (those same people who got me addicted to Audition). In the game, one of the part-time jobs is to shear sheep to gather wool and then take it to the local healer so they can use it to make bandages. Apparently my brain substituted healer with this very nice pharmacist we used to see at Walgreens (before he died). The shears thing...Kate is a gal at work and she sharpens our shears when they get dull. She recently sharpened mine at work (and damn are they sharp). Now, about the level up to 20 before Friday (which oddly...it was past when this all happened)...I needed to level up to 20 to complete a quest. I wanted to do this before the end of Friday because on Saturday you age. I wanted to Rebirth before that happened, but I also wanted to get to level 20 because after you Rebirth, you're back at level 1. So it was a big rush for me to level up and I was all insane about it, but luckily server time was different than local time, so I made the deadline. Yeah! Anyhow, Mabinogi is my new online game addiction. I really need to join a guild or find a group of people that are on when I am because it's easier to get through dungeons or survive quests with a few people with you. I'm kind of weak right now and I hate losing EXP when I die and have to res in town. UGH.

So, for your viewing pleasure and entertainment...Collapse )

Tomorrow we are setting the raccoons free. They are getting so big, but they're still adorable. They eat just about anything we give them. I think they'll do fine. Anyhow, here's some parting photos before they're turned loose in the wild.

I don't do it as often as I used to, but on occasion I make lunch to take to work. I tend to eat several small meals a day, so lunch, since it's only 30 minutes, I keep it light. In this one I have granny smith apples (soaked in lemon juice so they don't brown), strawberries, raspberries, cashews (I found I can have a small amount without an allergic reaction), sunflower seeds, and for dessert I have a Take 5 and Dark Snickers. I meant to purchase Dark Milky Ways, but somehow I grabbed the Dark Snickers. Not my favourite, but they'll do. Strawberries and raspberries are so yummy. Granny smith are the only type of apples I'll eat. Not exactly the most balanced light lunch, but it's healthy for the most part.

Apparently Fan Plus Friend still have not received my package that I sent back on June 30th. I'm starting to get worried. I was assured by the post office that first class would be just fine. I didn't want to spend a fortune on priority. Now, I kind of wish I would have paid the extra large amount of cash, because it seems they haven't received it. All I have is the customs form number and that will only verify that you sent the package. Fan Plus Friend said they'd remake the garments and hold them until they get my package and then send them...to hopefully cut down on wait time since it's been so long. However, what's going to happen if they never receive it. I'm out two blouses and I cannot afford to purchase them again. This sucks, because I sent the package and have proof of that, but I don't have tracking. Is there any way to check to see if it's held up in customs? I'm so bummed. I can't wear any of my new Lolita outfits without those blouses. Blah!
